S. Mark Taper Patient Services Program

The primary goal of the Patient Services Department is to communicate with persons with ALS, their families and caregivers; to evaluate needs; to provide medical and health care referrals and educational resources. Home visits are made by our experienced professional staff and specially-trained volunteers.

  • Accessibility Updates
    The ALS provides updates for people in or visiting the Los Angeles area regarding accessibility options at local attractions, such as Disneyland, Staples Center, and other facilities.  If you have any more feedback, please let us know!

  • Equipment Loan Pool
    Durable medical equipment in excellent working condition is available to ALS patients by loan at no charge. This equipment is assessed for appropriate use by our Equipment Loan Pool director - a licensed physical therapist.

  • Annual Educational Symposia Series
    The chapter educates and provides information about the disease to health care professionals, and person with ALS, their families and the general public. Conferences and seminars offer practical and technical advice for the care of ALS patients are offered as part of the Chapter’s commitment to education.  Information regarding current ALS research is also available through the Chapter. Manuals and other educational materials regarding ALS are available through our ALS Association. Our quarterly newsletter provides research updates, tips and tools for managing ALS.

  • Support Groups
    We offer support groups in several Greater Los Angeles locations, including: West Los Angeles, East Los Angeles, Thousand Oaks/Westlake/Ventura and Pasadena.
